Leadership In Sustainable Lighting Solutions
Hubbell Lighting sees sustainability as a serious business issue as well as a significant opportunity for growth and innovation. The US DOE reports that lighting represents 30%-50% of the energy used in most facilities. Eighty percent of the existing commercial buildings in the US have lighting systems that are 20 years old or older. That is old, inefficient ‘80s technology at best. It is both our environmental and economic responsibility to offer you products and solutions that are compliant with the energy legislation designated in the ARRA guidelines.

LEED® Silver Certified Corporate Headquarters
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) rating system developed by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) provides internationally adopted standards for sustainable construction. LEED is an open and transparent process and more than 10,000 members of the USGBC review the criteria. The rating system addresses six major areas of design with four different levels of certification available for energy efficiency and environmental preservation. The general areas for evaluation are sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality, and innovation and design process.
LEED certified buildings use key resources more efficiently when compared to conventional buildings, making them a key variable in the economies ongoing push for sustainability. Hubbell Lighting’s sustainable lighting solutions can help achieve important credits toward LEED certification.
As a leading manufacturer of energy efficient lighting, we also believe that we should practice what we preach and lead by example. That is why Hubbell Lighting’s headquarters in Greenville, SC, was the second commercial building in the Upstate of South Carolina to be LEED Silver certified. The 185,000 sq. ft. facility is 30% more energy efficient than a typical office building of its size and boasts around 2,616,199 kilowatts and 1,480,000 gallons of water saved each year through its LEED certified design.
